After you’d made sure the undergraduates were on the right path, you focused your attention on leading the chapter’s fundraising efforts. Because of your efforts, the Balanced Man Scholarship and other scholarships are fully endowed. And then, you moved on to a goal the chapter’s always dreamed of — building its own facility. Because of your efforts, your chapter has hit its fundraising goal of $400,000 and is well on its way to a stretch goal of $650,000. The chapter will soon have a brand new facility, a high-quality living-learning environment, and it is largely thanks to your efforts. And not only have you been generous with your time, but also your treasure, giving a lot of your own money for the chapter’s new home.
You’ve been a dedicated SigEp since day one. Literally. When SigEp came to campus in the early 1990s, you were among the founding members. You became the new chapter’s first president, and went on to give of your time without interruption ever since. You’ve been the continuity and the heartbeat of the chapter, and in those 20 years you’ve seen your chapter grow into a powerhouse. For your dedication, we are honored to recognize you, Michael Hart IV, from South Dakota Alpha at South Dakota State, with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
